J.M. Dover writes young adult fantasy and science fiction. She has a degree in psychology, and in her work as a social worker, she counseled teenagers. Many found themselves challenged by how the world saw them, and as a result, struggled with their identity. In her books, she explores the coming-of-age journey, and inspires teens to reach for their dreams.
“I believe that the privilege of a lifetime is being who you truly are.” Viola Davis.
“Magic is believing in yourself. If you can do that, you can make anything happen.” Goethe.
Her careers as a social worker, fashion designer, accountant, and author show she can be both creative and logical—sometimes, strangely, at the same time. Being a writer gives her a way where both sides of her brain can work happily together. She lives in Calgary, Alberta with her husband and close to her children and grandchildren.
Her young adult fantasy series was published by Evil Alter Ego Press. FINDING ATLANTIS (2018) was an Aurora Award finalist. RETURN TO ATLANTIS was released in March 2020 and was also an Aurora Award finalist. She has two short stories published in anthologies: The Girl in Blue in ENIGMA FRONT: THE MONSTER WITHIN (2017) and Dragon Creed in NEO-OPSIS Magazine, Issue 29 (2019).
